2.
Job Captain/Junior Project
Architect
What is a job captain?
We’ve all heard the term but what does it mean?
Basically, it means that you have had 3-4 years of technical
experience working in an architecture firm. You have seen at
least 10 projects go from SD to occupancy and understand the
sequence of architectural services.
You have the ability to organize a set of drawings and work
from a Project Architect’s markups with only limited hand
holding. You have a working knowledge of CABO, BOCA and the new
International Building Codes.
You are gaining an understanding of building materials and
project delivery methods as well as becoming confident in making
suggestions that are relevant to the client's needs and
project's budget.
While not required, 3-D Studio and/or
modeling experience would be nice.
However, understanding AutoCAD is mandatory. We would prefer
someone who can use key commands instead of depending on
mousing. The basic premise: the more proficient you are with
AutoCAD, the more efficient you are in completing tasks.
It is our intent to move this person into higher levels of
responsibility such as project programming, building material
selection, client project meetings and assisting in construction
contract administration.
Lastly, we believe in merit – not letters. A B.Arch or M.Arch
is not required, but a lifetime dedication to self-improvement
is.
